LINCOLN - Three Nebraska youth are visiting Taiwan this week to learn about the country's agricultural industry.
The visit comes following a trip to Nebraska by three Taiwanese students in July. During the Taiwanese students' trip, they attended the Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute (NAYI) coordinated by the Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA). During NAYI, the Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office of Kansas City invited three NAYI delegates to tour Taiwan.
This is the fourth year Nebraska students have been invited to Taiwan. NDA Director Greg Ibach hopes the student exchange program will continue, and will benefit agriculture in both countries.
The students left for Taiwan on November 9th and will return to Nebraska on November 18th While in Taiwan, the students are staying at an agricultural high school, touring the campus, meeting with Taiwanese students, attending a conference on agricultural education, visiting farms and observing several agricultural research institutes.
The students will be asked to share their experiences with the delegates to the 2008 NAYI. The three students currently in Taiwan are:
