LINCOLN - The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA), Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) has again received a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Veterinary Services (USDA/APHIS/VS), to be used to continue the Scrapie eradication efforts in Nebraska.
NDA initiated the "Nebraska Ram Project" in 2004, and has continued the project through the years, as funding is available.
Nebraska sheep producers can have their flock sires (rams) tested free of charge. The funds are limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Testing will be limited to five rams per flock.
Nebraska sheep producers who would like to have their rams tested should contact their local veterinarians to schedule an appointment. For more information, contact the NDA/BAI at 800-572-2437 or visit www.agr.ne.gov.
