LINCOLN - The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) encourages all first through sixth grade Nebraska youth to participate in the fourth annual Nebraska Department of Agriculture's Agriculture Week in Nebraska Poster Contest.
"In 2006, we received well over 1,000 posters from students from all across the state," said NDA Director Greg Ibach. "Agriculture is Nebraska's number one industry, and this contest provides teachers with another opportunity to help educate their students about agriculture."
The deadline for contest entries is March 1, 2007, with the winners being announced during National Agriculture Week (March 18-24). This year's theme is "Nebraska Agriculture - More Than You Imagine."
The contest will be broken down into three age groups:
The winning entries will be featured on the NDA web site, and possibly on posters, promotional materials and other publications.
"The posters help celebrate National Agriculture Week in Nebraska," said Director Ibach. "We encourage teachers, parents and students to get involved in this year's contest."
Rules, official entry forms and additional information is available by calling Christin Kamm at (402) 471-6856, by e-mailing ckamm@agr.ne.gov, or by logging onto the Kids Page located on the NDA homepage at www.agr.ne.gov.
