NDA Announces Noxious and Invasive Weed Grant Winners
LINCOLN - Eight projects have been approved for noxious and invasive weed grants, according
to Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) Director Greg Ibach.
The projects range from noxious and invasive weed educational materials and public outreach to
the treatment and monitoring of noxious and invasive weeds.
The monies used for the grants were awarded to NDA by the Nebraska Environmental Trust.
Grant recipients, their grants and their projects include:
- Nebraska Loess Hills RC&D ($8,133.32)
Project: Middle Missouri Valley Weed Management Area
- Five Rivers Weed Management Area ($5,000)
Project: Missouri River Project/Sericea Lespedeza Awareness
- Dr. Louda and Dr. Qvarnemark ($4,620)
Project: Treatment Methods of Canada Thistle
- Lower Platte Weed Management Area ($8,300)
Project: Lower Platte Weed Management Area Weed Control
- Twin Valley Weed Management Area ($20,000)
Project: Twin Valley Weed Management Area Noxious Weed Control
- Nebraska Game and Parks Commission ($10,000)
Project: Clear Creek Weed Management Area
- Middle Niobrara Weed Awareness Group ($6,000)
Project: Middle Niobrara River Valley Weed Control
- Nebraska Weed Control Association ($15,000)
Project: Nebraska web-based Weed Mapping Project
"We are pleased to be able to offer these grants as part of the Nebraska Department of
Agriculture's noxious and invasive weed outreach," said Ibach.
