LINCOLN - Jamie Karl, Assistant Director of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture, has scheduled a meeting of the Climate Assessment Response Committee (CARC) for Tuesday, August 22. The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Lower Level F Conference Room of the State Office Building, 301 Centennial Mall South in Lincoln.
Climate officials will brief CARC members on existing and predicted climate conditions. The group also will hear from University of Nebraska-Lincoln Assistant Professor Bradley Lubben. Lubben, who is a public policy specialist in the Department of Agricultural Economics, will review a report he authored with other colleagues on the 2006 drought's economic impact on Nebraska's agriculture industry.
CARC members will discuss possible drought mitigation activities.
