GENERAL INFORMATION
The Nebraska Seed Law requires that a complete test (Purity, Noxious Weed Exam, and Germination) must be obtained before any agricultural, vegetable, or flower seed can be sold. Seed sales of agricultural, vegetable, flower, and wildflower seed requires purchase of a Nebraska seed permit.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAMPLING
Obtaining a representative sample is the most important factor in obtaining accurate testing results. When sampling seed in bulk, take several samples from different locations and depths of the seed lot. Use of a seed probe is recommended; hand sampling is acceptable if representative. When sampling seed in bags, sample five bags plus 10% of the total number of bags (i.e., for 50 bags, sample 10 bags). The sample submitted should be divided down to the desired quantity required for testing.
