
In 1997, soil samples were collected from 45 potato fields in the following counties: Banner, Box Butte, Chase, Kimball, Lincoln, and Morrill for a soybean cyst nematode (Heterodera glycines), golden nematode (Globodera rostochiensis), and other cyst-forming nematodes survey. Soil samples were analyzed at the University of Nebraska, Plant Pathology Department. and were found to be negative.
In 1998, soil samples were collected from 45 potato fields in the following counties: Chase, Dundy, Holt, Platte, and Rock. All samples were negative.
There were no soybean cyst nematode surveys conducted in 1999.
Currently, 11 counties are reported as infested with soybean cyst nematode. They are the eastern counties of Burt, Cass, Douglas, Gage, Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Richardson, Sarpy, and Wayne. The counties of Saline and Washington were also found infested by University of Nebraska surveys in 1993 and 1994.
