EAB Awareness Week in Nebraska
A Proclamation was signed by Governor Heineman on May 7, 2008, declaring May 18-24 as
Emerald Ash Borer Awareness Week in Nebraska. NDA ran a radio spot regarding
Awareness Week one week before. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission promoted EAB
Awareness Week through TV and radio spots.

During Awareness Week, agencies involved in the Nebraska Emerald Ash Borer Working Group
set outreach trees on their sites. Outreach trees were set at several state college and university
campuses, city, state and national parks, rest stops, and nurseries. These outreach trees helped
raise public awareness about the threat EAB poses to Nebraska's ash trees.
